The address for tonight’s (6:30-7:30PM) meeting is 6536 N State Highway 161, Irving 75039-2402.

There are two buildings: the 5-story NEC structure (with 3-story annex), and the 9-story AAA structure. The meeting is in the NEC building. Park in the south lot and come in on the south side of the building (facing 114 and under the NEC sign). The taller of the two buildings is AAA - you don’t want that entrance.

If coming from 190 (George Bush Turnpike):
Take the Rosemeade Parkway exit, continuing right on Rosemeade Parkway.
Turn left at Midway Rd.
Continue on Midway until you reach International Parkway.
Turn right onto International Parkway. There are several 2-story office buildings on the right. We are the second building from Maserati/Porsche dealership (whoo hooo!).
If you reach the Tollway, you’ve gone too far!

If coming northbound on the Tollway:
Take the Plano Parkway exit.
Turn left on Plano Parkway, going under the Tollway.
At the 3-way stop, turn left onto International Parkway.
We are the second building on the left after the Maserati/Porsche dealership (yes!!)

Parking: Park anywhere in front. Doors are open until 7pm.

Copying and Pasting Clipart from PowerPoint

Copying and pasting clipart from Powerpoint into Captivate is a quick and easy way to add images to your project. However, there are two things you need to remember:

Open the copied image in Captivate and change the transparency layer from black to white. The WMF image copies with a white background but the images transparency property is black. The image background is transparent in the development mode but not when you publish it.
The WMF format is not editable in Captivate. If you want an editable image, use Snagit or some other screen capture utility to grab the image before importing it into Captivate.

Making Actionscript calls from Adobe Captivate

Philip Hutchison (pipwerks.com) has written a great tutorial showing how to use Actionscript within Captivate SWFs to communicate with a Flash container. The tutorial includes diagrams, samples, and source files. Read about it here.

Captivate Tip - Advanced Interaction Screen

When the Advanced Interaction screen is open and you click an interaction (button, entry text, etc.), the selected interaction is highlighted on the storyboard menu. This is an easy way to verify which object’s parameters are being set, when you have more than one interaction on a page.

Captivate Tip - Recovering from Menu Flicker

Cannot select a Menu item in Captivate 2:
After using Captivate 2 for some time, I noticed that the Captivate menu sometimes will flash instead of displaying when you click on any of the menus. I had been saving a closing my project until I got this tip from Walt Stewart. When the menu will only flash and not allow you to make a selection, open the project library and click any of the library objects. The menu will now remain displayed until you select an option or click somewhere else on the screen.
